(ok, a few words because I only just realized yesterday was Tuesday – oops!)
So Ed pretends to hate the twins. She swipes at them, leaps on them and thoroughly loves blocking the basement door flap with her butt so that when they come tearing up the basement stairs, they slam into her bulk rather than going through the flap.
But recently she let her guard down, and they took immediate advantage of that fact. I caught them all sleeping together (but Ford jumped down as I was snapping the picture, because he’s a jerk like that).
It just doesn’t feel right.
This is KITTEN country!
I tend to go a little mad twice every year – in spring and fall. Basically when the temperature takes a sudden turn for the worse or better. Or in the case of spring: better, then worse, then awful, then good. Oh New England – you’re so cheeky.
I love cleaning and organizing and setting everything up juuust right (which is just madness when you have kittens). And though my house doesn’t always reflect my love of order, it’s there – I swear!
I think the cats always enjoy cleaning days because they get to muddle about in boxes that used to have stuff I was “going to get to one of these days”. I always have boxes of stuff stashed away that I had the greatest plans for. Forgetful me.
But cats do love boxes. Ed, especially, loves boxes.
This box is perfect.
THIS BOX HAS BEEN CLAIMED FOR ED!
You stay away!
Ed senses danger.
STAY AWAY FROM MY BOX, DOG!
Ed defends her boxes to the death.
Alas, no weekend posts again! We had to do a ton of work on the living room – work which involved turning off power to a few rooms. Whoever wired our house back in the 50′s desperately wanted to own some sort of crazy circus fun house. The only power in my entire computer room is to a wall socket that was being used by my scanner and printer. No lights, no computer, no nothing. Also the hallway light, the kitchen light, the front porch light… circus fun house of ELECTRICAL HORRORS!
Anyway, I also did a lot of yard work, and I feel like the best place to be right now would be on this very bed:
There are only two problems with that:
1- I am currently at work and wont be home for a while yet
and
2- Zoso peed on that bed a few weeks ago and we are currently guest bed-less (dogs, am I right?)

Hang on…

I seem to have gone all topsy turvy.

Ed is so awesome that she takes expressions literally. She let herself out!

Alliteration is great, right? Anyway, I didn’t post Saturday because we were out of the house almost the entire day! Basically we were running around like crazy people from 10am until midnight, so no posts then. I was going to post on Sunday, but I got caught up watching a cat give birth live, streaming on the internet. She’s had six kittens so far and at least one other is still expected.
I’ve also dragged myself into some sort of Red Dwarf marathon and forget to do anything else for the day…
So anyway, here is a make-up post for the weekend. Today I’d like to talk about oral health – for cats that is. My older cat, Ed, had remarkably good teeth that have just started to build up a bit of plaque. So my vet suggested I brush her teeth every few days. The new boys had pretty awful teeth when I got them, so they get the royal treatment, too. Brushing cat teeth is fun, right? (Thanks to my sister for these pictures).

Ed loves the malt flavored tooth paste.

Ford (?) is less keen on it.

And Arthur wanted nothing to do with it.

Not a fan.
And the dog also gets his teeth brushed, though only one tooth needs it. I’m still not sure how he managed that one.
